Going back to the late 1960's, the US Guitar industry was under increasing competition from Japanese Guitar imports. Back then, guitar manufacturing was much cheaper in Japan and often the quality was comparable to the US made guitar brands. In response to this Sigma Guitars was established in 1970, taking US guitar manufacturing expertise to Japan. The result was a superior acoustic guitar brand at a competitive price. From there, manufacturing moved to Korea under the same strict business rules, providing guitarists with a high quality product, at a competitive price.
