Look like some kind of miniature guitar, the Ukulele is in fact a member of the Lute family. The Ukulele originates from Portugal, as a small guitar like instrument called a Machete.

During the 19th Century, this instrument found it’s way to Hawaii and was embraced by Hawaiians, to become the Uke we know today.
