Steinberg

It could be said, that Steinberg did for recording, what the Guitar did for Rock and Roll. Back in 1984 Steinberg created a software sequencing program to run on the Commodore 64 computer. Soon after, they channeled their efforts to the Atari ST computer, which boasted a MIDI in and Out as standard.

By 1989 Steinberg released what was to change the face of electronic music forever. Steinberg Cubase brought powerful Midi Sequencing, to professional recording studios and crucially, to the home studio. Serious sequencing power was now in the hands of musicians from every walk of life, enabling new music genres to blossom and eventually become mainstream. Later Steinberg offered support for Apple Mac and Windows computers, expaning their product range into alternative software packages and hardware audio interfaces.
