Mary teaches both children and adults. She is qualified through AMEB and has only recently moved to Tecoma, where she has an ideal music space for teaching and holding small piano concerts.
She has a teaching approach that is gentle, patient and creative, making the lessons enjoyable and engaging. There are games, props and puzzles to complement the learning process, which she has created during her many years of teaching, to make it fun and to instil in students the utter joy of music-making. The journey of learning a musical instrument need not be a tedious slog; becoming a musician can be an exciting adventure. Mary strives to share this magic!
Lessons are structured to include all the various aspects of music-making, including sight-reading, theory, technique, aural skills, scales, composition, improvisation, and more. Each school term carries a theme, to help cover the different aspects of music-making. End of year Christmas concerts are also held which provide a great goal for students to work towards.
If you’re a parent dropping a student off for a lesson, there is a playground next door to take any energetic siblings. How perfect is that! Quiet, well-behaved children who are supervised carefully by their carer can wait in the adjacent sun-room.
Mary looks forward to hearing from you soon. Enquiries are welcome.
“Making the world a more beautiful place through Music, Art and Gardening” is Mary’s life motto!
